Absolutely worth buying if you have some metal work coming up. Went through quite a few of these on my front pan (different brand; these weren't available at the time).

Looks like the one I bought at NAPA for ~$7 over a decade ago. As long as you make a small starter hole, they will last forever.

Except the HF one today will not be hardened properly and will last about 10 holes. Just like ALL of their drill bits. FWIW, I was given a set of ~60 brad point bits as a gift by an unknowing relative and you can easily BEND even the 1/4"+ ones w/ just your fingers. HF is ok for some stuff. I'll bet this isn't one of them.

Nice!!!. I'm getting to the replacement of the front pan for my 73E and have been trying to find spot weld cutters. Matt D. recommended Snapon's and MAC's, but I am going to give these a try. Thanks. Andy

Stephen i used the high dollar version of these when i did my pan and broke quite a few teeth. I think this is not quite the same thing as a drill bit where you're trying to keep a sharp edge. The teeth are likely to break long before you wear them down (regardless of brand) thanks to the odd angles you end up working at to do the pan.

Andy, if you do end up going all the way through when drilling in a few spots (as i did several times) don't fret; just leave that part of the replacement metal un-punched and do your plug weld from the other side.

I've used mine for years to cut seat trays and sunroofs out (dont remember the brand). If its made out of real tool steel you should neither break or dull teeth (at least not in your lifetime). A good one really will last forever.

Another tip on these things; WHEN you have to turn the bit around to use the other set of teeth the bit may be stuck-i used a grinder to put a flat on opposite sides and then a small mm wrench to unscrew it.

Their hole saws are awful. I would urge you all to not buy Chinese. Not to get into a discussion about our economy but lets try and buy USA or Europe if USA is not available.
