Default Germany Trip Recap: Day 2 at the 'Ring

Day 2 started with clear blue sunny skies.

We got to the track at 7:45 and met up with a few of my brother's friends. One of them was there with his GT2 and he promised me a pax lap later that day (unfortunately his gearbox broke before I could catch a ride )

After a few hot laps with my brother (he has now made 10 trips to the 'Ring and driven 150+ laps not to mention countless pax laps) to get a feel for the track he flipped me the keys for my first driving lap and we were off.

All was going well until about the 8 km mark when a red GT3 decided to pass me on the inside of a blind left turn. HELLO ... our mirrors were about 5 inches apart and I thought for a brief second it was all going to be over. I was doing about 120km/hr and fortunately nobody was to my right so I made a quick evasive manuever and he went flying by. I managed to collect myself and continued on. After the lap he came upto us in the parking lot and started screaming at us saying I was on the perfect line blocking him and I had no business being there. He refused to recognize that I DID NOT give him a passing signal (rule of the track is you put your right turn signal on to let someone know you see them and they can pass on the left) but finally walked away in a huff. Welcome to Germany and the wonderful world of GT3's

(Note: I'll post my impressions of driving / riding the track in a separate thread)

The rest of the morning was much less eventful as I did a few more driving laps but then caught 10+ passenger laps in other cars. By noontime the track was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too crowded (3 day Holiday weekend) and actually was closed for a little over 2 hours due to various accidents. The locals/regulars all parked their cars as they didn't want to risk any damage. We spent the afternoon sitting outside watching the craziness around us

Around 3 we had enough and decided it was time to spectate...

One of the hidden treasures of the 'Ring are the array of spectating areas. As you drive around the perimeter of the track you will find countless pull-off areas that lead to great spectating sights. Here are a few of the ones we enjoyed.

After an hour or two of this we headed to dinner in Nurburg and then drifted off to sleep.
