Anyone have a book they always turn to for driving or car setup info? A friend suggested Tune to Win by Carroll Smith as a good place to get started. Anyone read this? Amazon reviews suggest it's dead on, sounds like a must have.

Smith's entire line sounds very intersting, might be good to add to the library. Anything else a must have?

All the Carroll Smith books are considered 'must reads' -- even (especially?) the one on fasteners.

For driving, I have Vic Elford's book (don't remember title offhand), Skip Barber's "Going Faster", and Henry Watt's "The Secrets of Solo Racing."

I also have a good one on car setup, but I can't remember the name right now. I'll check tonight (if no one else lists it before then).

I second Barber's book "Going Faster" - good read and every time you read it you will learn more.

Don't sell yourself short -- you are! Reading this book will convince most people to just rely on 'geeks' like you to answer their fastener questions! Too much to learn/ absorb/ retain! (great for reference, though -- you know, for those times when Kurt or DR aren't on-line, and you need an answer fast)

1. Engineers use their knowledge of math and science to solve problems. My problem was that I didn't like studying. I used my knowledge of physics (gravity) to drop my books in the trash. Probem solved!

2. Engineers know they don't need to derive the same solutions over and over. Once they learn the basis for a formula, etc. it is then okay to just use the formula (or tables based on the formula). With this in mind, you can read about the fastener theory once or twice, then just go back to the book whenever you need info. You know the info is there handy, so why try to memorize all of it?

3. Is there a Carroll Smith book about 924 turbo manifolds? :P
