Default Fairfax County Po-lice revisited

I read a while back about some encounters with FFX County cops and none of them were exactly gushing with praise. This morning I had my second encounter with said law enforcement agency and both times I came away pleasantly surprised. I used to get speeding tickets/moving violations just because I looked guilty, so I never expected any lenience.

A couple years ago when I first got my 951 (don't forget, parts for sale!) I decided to drive it to work. The car wasn't actually registered or inspected and getting the title in the mail was my impetus. So being a shrewd and crafty individual I took the plate off my truck and attached it to Porsche, problem solved!

I tried to stay under the radar and I took Walney from 28 to get to the Chantilly DMV.

I got to the intersection of Walney and Stonecroft (by Bowl America and Chantilly Autobody) and was turning left when I noticed a police car in the Chantilly parking lot noticing me.

I turned and he pulled me over immediately. The fun started with the license and registration routine, got better when I told him the unregistered status of the vehicle, increased when he told me it's illegal to display foreign plates in FFX (fake german plate on the front), really started rolling when I admitted where the rear plate came from and crescendoed when I showed him the title to the car which I had yet to fill out and sign (a felony if I remember correctly or maybe just a really bad misdemeanor)

I was completely honest and remorseful while keeping a good sense of humor. I reality the car should have been impounded, I should have been arrested, bad things should have happened.

I ended up getting a ticket for "improper registration". $25 fine. No points. I went to court (at the officer's suggestion) and the fine was dropped and I just had to pay court fees.

This morning, moving briskly down 29 under the FFX County Parkway I see an officer at the bottom of the hill behind the Jersey barriers with a radar gun. I play cool and just drive but she waves me over.

A few minutes earlier after dropping my daughter at daycare I noticed I was sans wallet, this was why I was under the parkway, I was going to hit my wife up for some lunch money.

She asked how fast I thought I was going, I offered "38?" she said guess again, I said "39?" Still a bit low. 64 in a 45 and I think the 64 was just to keep me out of reckless.

I told her about my morning (which included shoes without insoles that I was going to buy but no wallet) and that without insoles I thought my shoes were keeping me from noticing how fast I was going. I got her laughing.

She came back with a ticket for driving without my license in possession. She told me that since I am married that I couldn't kiss her since she was giving me quite a gift. All I have to do is go the the courthouse, show that I have a license and all is forgotten.

I think I am going to play the lottery tonight.

You charmed your way out of a speeding ticket in FFX county??? Unbelievable...

wished I could of charmed the male officer out of my tickets a few months ago, but that guy was on a mission, to give as many tickets to a guy in a red porsche as possible.

, Right on brother! FFX screwed you bad this year.

Steelspine, it sounds like you got lucky and ran into a couple officers who were actually down to earth . With that kind of luck you should play the lotto .

Hey, I have no love for the Ffx. Co. gubmint in general, but I will say their cops have not been bad to me at all. I've probably been pulled over 5-6 times in the last 8 yrs. Once I got a ticket for failure to come to a complete stop at a right turn on red. Beat it in court and I totally embarrassed the disorganized cop. Another ticket was for no front license plate, after I passed a field sobriety test and talked my way out of a ticket for street racing the unmarked Camaro cop car. I even beat a parking ticket in court when the cop corroborated my story with his own photographs of the bare pole missing the "no parking" sign on top of it. WTF? Another manchild/woman cop let me go after getting me for 42mph in a 25mph zone, as I told her I was in a hurry to get my car to the shop before they closed and my Bimmer had a very noticeable dead cylinder/miss at the time. I've reallyonly been nailed consistently by VA State Police. Those guys are all business and don't give warnings.

wish I had your luck... . When I get pulled over they automatically get on the bullhorn and tell me to spread over the hood. Each time, everytime. I only wish I knew why....
