Default Pending, Waitlisted, and moving to Blue

There are two reasons why someone might be waitlisted for the DE at Shenandoah -

The first reason is that there is an absolute limit imposed by track loading or density. We set a certain number of drivers per mile for each run group. Green is the least loaded - about 10-12 drivers per track mile. Red is most loaded - about 16-18 drivers per track mile. So the Green and Blue run groups have a set max number of acceptee's. The Green and Blue run groups are predisposed by this policy to be smaller than the Black and Red run groups, which is good because that's where the instructors come from and we need to have more instructors than students - because in addition to instructing, they also run the event (think evaluation, safety, etc).

The second reason is that we have to have an instructor for each student. Sometimes we'll load up an instructor with 2 students, mostly if they're registered as Instruct only, or if it's an away track and there aren't enough instructors. But instructors have to have time off, and two students is a pretty heavy load. Six 30 minute run sessions is 3 hours of driving! Nine 30 minute run sessions (two students plus their own run sessions) is probably too much in 90+ degree heat.

Right now, the limit on getting accepted into the Shenandoah event in Green and Blue is the number of instructors signed up. So if you're waitlisted, there's still hope once more instructors sign up. Of course, that's assuming you don't mind driving behind the paving machine.

Finally, if you just got promoted to blue, rest assured that you will be moved to blue in the database before the next event. The wheels of bureaucracy grind exceedingly slowly but do eventually result in promotions getting registered in the database. There is a _PROCESS_ and that process will eventually play out. Please stop sending me email telling me that you're now in blue. I get it. But not yet. And, if you get moved to blue, you'll get your rightful place in the ascension to acceptance.
