Hello everyone, I'm mainly a lurker on this board checking in every now and again. I'm curious who amoung us is going to be driving to the RSR-II? I don't own a Porsche (yet, grr) but myself, my girlfriend and a buddy of mine will be driving down. We want the Bavarian feel to the trip so we're taking his '95 M3.

Ahh, your first post
Hey, I think Doug E and his wife are headed down. I'm not sure anyone else is going but there must be more. Most of the rest of us would love to be going but have to settle for something closer to home like Hershey. Take plenty of pictures, and post them to the gallery if you can when you return. Go forth and lurk no more. Keith

Current plan is for Jason and I to travel together.
My car is confirmed on the transporter, so no 15 hour trailer pull required. Hooya! Anyone seen the list of name drivers that will be at the event? How's this for a who's who: Hurley Haywood, Brian Redman, Derek Bell, Bobby Rahal, Chip Robinson, Reinhold Joest, John Paul Jr., and Kevin Buckler, Vern Schuppan, R. Attwood, Derek Bell,Dan Gurney, Herbert Linge, and Doc Bundy (for the front engined fans), Milt Minter, Elliott Forbes-Robinson. Dont know if we'll spend more time watching than racing, but it should be a great event!

Yup, the Mrs. and I are going to be taking a nice drive while Grandma and Grandpa get to spend quality time with the kids
Not wanting to put 2k miles+ on any of the vehicles we are actually renting a car and will be hitting the road by 6 am Thursday morning. Hopefully we'll arrive in Daytona by 8 or 9 pm and we are staying at the Travellodge right across from the track (main entrance I believe). I'll be leaving from Herndon here in NoVa so just let me know what your travel plans are and who knows, maybe we can hook up along the way. If I remember Jason correctly he said they were pulling out on Wednesday so it doesn't look like we'll see them on the road. BTW TK, if you really want to be in fantasy land combine that driver list with the car listing ... from my recollection it is even better then RRI. Hot damn, two weeks from now we'll be in P-car Heaven

Fear not about pictures, 3 of us are going and all 3 of us have a digital camera.
My favorite one being this one where I touched a tire of the Corvette team and the guy on the left shouting 'You break it you bought it!' Good times. I'm not positive of our traveling schedule yet, I'll have to firm that up soon however. We are also staying at the Travel Lodge as was recommended on the Pelican Parts forum. * Edited to fix links

OK:
Current plan (b/c I am trailering 15 +/- hours) is to leave Wednesday night after rush hour dies down. Probably tow 4-5 hours, crash at some holiday inn, get up early, tow the remaining 10 +/- and hopefully get into the track before it closes for the night. If you leave early, ignore all posted speed signs, and tune up the "flux-capacitor" you'll probably catch up by the time I hit the FL border... It is 801 miles door to door. Jase |

Quote:
I was at ASG yesterday they were prepping a car or two for the event, and planning to head down there on a 'working' gig for someone with a race prep car (and probably deep pockets). Told me that with only time for 5 laps, there'd be lots of down time to look at the great cars on display. And they call that WORK....sheesh... ASG has some great guys BTW - all of 'em. Keith

I've posted this over on the Pelican board but It looks like the Turd won't be making the rennsport trip and my backup ride is bringing his wife instead. Anyone out there in need of a navigator who's going to Rennsport?
