Default DAS Roll Bar Group Buy Update

For all interested, the deadline for confirming your order of a DAS roll bar is January 5th. Right now the pricing is 15% off listed price on www.dassport.com

To confirm, post the year of your car and the type of bar you would like. Also indicate whether or not you need seat belt guides ($50 option).

Once I have the final tally of those interested, I will negotiate with DAS further for a lower final price.

If we decide to go pick them up, DAS is willing to host us and provide a facility tour.

All bars come in plain steel. They can custom paint for an additional charge. I plan to have someone local powder coat mine.

I think covered everything....

Great work, Vu!
Just a thought......
These things are big. If you are planning to pick them up, suggest you don't have them painted - almost sure to get scratched in transit. Also, you may want to check how many you can carry with a given pickup truck.

Thanks for the tip Tony. I plan on having mine powder coated locally. Once I have the final tally of bars, I'll ask DAS about how much room we'll need to haul home. I also have access to a 9' x 12' trailer if needed.

I was just talking to one of the faithful about the DAS bar, and remembered the following point that is worth posting here:

You should consider the optional harness guides, which are a good addition to the standard bar. If you order the guides, make sure they are set at the right width for your seats. The guide positions for track seats with harness holes is closer together than for stock seats. You need to specify the type of seats you are using.

Tony,

I plan to use the stock seats for a while therefore was going to order the seat belt guides.....but what do I do later when I upgrade to seats with holes in the back?

Vu,
That's my point - exactly. Need to make a choice - set it up for the seats you have, or the ones you are going to have?????

Its not unuseable with the mismatched guides/seats, just less than optimal. Better to go with the setup that will be used the longest.

Curious why you need the guides? Can't you attach the harnesses to the bar itself, rather than at the rear seatbelt mounting points, which of course could use the guide.

Bill gets the gold star today! If the main hoop has a cross bar then that is the best attachment point.

Even if you mount the belts to the cross bar, wouldn't you still need the belt guides to keep the belts from "spreading out"?

Am I missing something

I echo Tony's rec. to set up your bar for the track seat you envision getting further down the road.

If you attach shoulder harnesses to the crossbar and have a seat brace, shoulder harnesses with a sternum strap = optimum set-up for most all groups you might run with. There are plenty here who can show / demonstrate their setup to give you ideas.

I swapped over to the shoulder harnesses with a sternum strap (little more money) and it is a more secure feeling. The sternum straps purpose is to hold the two shoulder harnesses together when you get thrown into them. I highly recommend it. I have the shoulder harnesses attached to the crossbar.
