Default Insurance on street for track car

Has anyone had any experience with Leyland West for insurance on your "street legal" track car? I want the option to drive to/from tech inspections although no daily driving. The key is I want to have the policy independent of my normal car insurance provider. I am trying to be upfront about what the car looks like.

Experience? Thoughts?

why independent coverage like Leland vs your regular provider? cost only? If the car is street legal, then anyone should be able to provide coverage, no?

The rub is it is a track car. It has been documented on the board in the past that if you even mention during a call to your normal insurance provider that you may consider doing driver education events, mind you not racing events, there is a strong possibility they will drop ALL of your coverage. Since the provider I have is one I would like to be generational for my family I want to separate the track car from my normal policy. I was straight up with Leyland and they sent me a quote so we will see how far this goes.

I am trying to preserve the option of this insurance and fear that even though I drive on the street minimally, under 500 miles a year, I could simply get hit at a light by some idiot and poof there goes my insurance.

What's your regular insurance? I insured my street-legal Carrera (Historic plates) for pennies. It's not covered on the track (I got separate insurance for that) but got a discount on it as an "extra" car that wouldn't be driven much, specifically because it was on a policy with our other cars. We have State Farm.

If you're worried about what your insurance company will do, talk with Scott B about Allstate (his Dorki name is, appropriately, "Good Hands"). Scott provides insurance for LOTS of Porsche drivers who do DEs and also many who race.

Yup I have spoken to Good Hands in the past about it however, when it comes to picture time my car doesn't look like a street car so most insurance companies don't want it. This is why I asked about Leyland as they know upfront and they seem to be okay with it.

State Farm insured my pure track car (with headlights and a horn, but no horn button...) and 16" numbers on the side surrounded by PCA, NASA, etc. stickers. You might want to have a private talk with your agent (who does not want to lose your business), or talk again with Good Hands. I've never heard a single negative word against Scott (except from Hunt, and we all know that's just trash talk from "second place..." ).

To be clear Scott and I are fine, good guy. Allstate just didn't like seeing my cage, etc.

And to my initial point I CANNOT even mention the track or DEs etc. with a rep from my current company or they will permanently drop all of my cars. Moreover, I suggest no one hint at the track stuff with their current company or they may run the same risk. Maybe if you can have a private non-recorded conversation you may be okay.
