Great pic, Doug. Very ironic that you'd have that poster, too. For a short hood that 934 (am I right?) looks awfully cool.

Jason,
Hard to say from that angle without the original windshield if it's a 57 or 58 Speedster or a 59 Convertable D. I'd go with the Speedster. Like that one, I've got a couple more?? Keith

Keith - who is the driver? For some reason I seem to remember seeing that car (#77 I believe) in other pictures.

Here's a few more. Not sure of the drivers, but all are from Cumberland, MD in the late 50's and early 60's. Not all were local cars, as the airfield track drew racers from all over the place. I have some pics of Penske...etc. Other non-Porsche cars if anyone's interested?
The Roosevelt Racing Team http://www.dorkiphus.com/porsche/mod...view_photo.php The Porsche 904 http://www.dorkiphus.com/porsche/mod...view_photo.php Jennings? In a nice Spyder. (notice the 356, Healeys and even a VB bug in the pit.) http://www.dorkiphus.com/porsche/mod...view_photo.php Looks like this MG's got trouble in the rearview... http://www.dorkiphus.com/porsche/mod...view_photo.php Most others are color...all Cumberland, MD Keith

Keith:
I forget that the 356s of that era all ran on 4.5" and 5" wheels (165 or 175 width?). Most every 356 I run against (including mine runs 6 -7" on 195 (and a few on 205). Talk about a "slide fest". I love the louvered access panel on the spyder. Did you see the most recent Excellence (or last month) with the blue / grey 356 outlaw (55 Pre-A) that had a similar panel built in RR? Was a beautiful piece of fabrication. Thanks for posting the pics. Jason |
