Gee, talk about buying an asset and throwing out the real value...

I'd be pretty sure the purchasers know a lot more about what potions of the brand are valuable vs those that are less so... Racing doesn't result in a net profit. And I doubt the royalties on the Brumos clothing offset the cost of running in a couple different pro racing series.

I'm sure you're right.

Seems like if your selling Porsche's and all you can say is "Buy it at Fields because Brumos doesn't exist anymore!" it might be less than a touchstone with the community. Alas, I already proved I'm not a marketing genius.

One would think they'd keep the Brumos namesake for the P-car dealer. I understand if they want to nix it on Merc and Lexus but Martin is right, there is something to be said and to some people added value if the car was bought in J-Ville where it all began.

I wonder if there might be a brand protection play here. The "physical" dealership(s) may be sold, but maybe they didn't sell the name along with it. Maybe the Brumos name/brand will live on in a different manner, with a different marketing spin. Is Patrick Dempsey still involved with the name?

Porsche did this for Andial

Santa Ana, Calif. – February 14 – With the last active owner Dieter Inzenhofer retiring later this month, the legendary ANDIAL name will stay in the Porsche family as Porsche Motorsports North America, Inc. (PMNA) announced it has purchased the brand for future use.

Vpracing.com is all that seems to remain of Vasek. Maybe something else in the works here.

X2, and what I thought happened. I think John B. is spot on too.

Doesn't PCNA require the dealers to be named "Porsche of [location]" now? No longer officially "HBL" etc.?

Correct, Dan ?? did not sell the Brumos name and retains all rights thereof. They will also be keeping the race cars and contents of the museum which will all be moved to another location.
Not much talk about Dempsey as he was somewhat of a bit player. I believe most of the Brumos holdings will be between Dan?? and Snodgrass.
