Ahoy:
I have an '09 Cayman S with the factory stock, funky quasi paddle shifters. I am keen to replace it with either the later version "real" Porsche wheel with true paddle shifters or the Suncoast wheel that goes for about a grand. Lately I've seen several Porsche steering wheels on eBay, for reasonable money, but I'm just not sure about compatibility. I read in one of the forums that all Porsche PDK steering wheels are wired exactly the same, so theoretically a 911 Turbo, Cayenne, or Panamera steering wheel should fit and work as plug and play. However, the eBay listing had had a "compatibility checker" added on, and even though the steering wheel came off of a 997 Turbo, the only compatible car shown is the Panamera. No warm, fuzzy here.... Has anyone in this forum done such a replacement? I am planning to have the wheel replaced by a qualified technician, since I don't want to f**k with the airbag, so the airbag switchout is not a concern. Any help/insights greatly appreciated. gregor

FWIW, the Suncoast parts page uses the exact same part number for both 911 (997.2) and Cayman (987.2) PDK sport design wheels (with paddles).
In fact, if you add both the 911 and Cayman wheels to the cart, you get 2 of the same part in the cart. ed

The downside to the new wheel from Porsche (when I checked into it for my 911) was that it didn't come with the heated steering wheel option. Choice between cold fingers or funky shifter button. I picked warm fingers.
