Default driver window going a little crazy sometimes

hi everyone

my 2006 987.1 boxster s has started to exhibit a tick

the driver side window goes a little spastic and goes up and down a little bit repeatedly

seems to be ok once i hit the inside switch or the car remote

any ideas?

thanks

A number of micro switches could be at fault. I believe there's one connected to the door handle, which lowers the window slightly, disengaging it from the channel in the roof, so the door can be opened. I believe there's another beneath the latch for the roof; when the latch is released the windows drop slightly in preparation for the roof opening. It could also be the window switch itself, but I'm guessing its a failing micro switch. If only the driver's window is moving, then I'll further guess its the switch associated with the door handle.

x2.

It's probably the ESP switch. It's making the window go down a lot to facilitate the point-bys.

Interesting...

My passenger side window is starting to fail to lower from opening the door. I'll bet its also a micro switch.

Are these DIY projects or more involved I wonder?

Failing to go down when the door pull is pulled is either the door pull(good way to check is to pull the other(outer vs. inner) if both dont work it is the regulator(likely).

If the window goes up and then comes back down it is likely off in its track and needs to be adjusted. They have pinch sensors which reopen the window

well gee let's EVERYONE bitch about their 1st world problems! i thought i posted mine here but i guess not. my driver side has recently developed an issue when using the outer door handle - window moves down a bit as it should but immediately goes back to full up position despite door being still open. Note: using inner handle works fine all the time as does when using outer handle BUT opening the door slowly. it's only when using outer handle AND opening door quickly that the issue arises. #damnquirkygermancars

there's a few DIY door panel removals/switch replacements over on RList and i'm thinking about tackling it on the off season. it's most likely the microswitch for the outer handle? ...but the only thing that gets me is the "opening of the door slowly" thing and how that seems to work regardless of how i pull up on the handle. oh well. just another 1st world problem.

The bolded statement implies there's also a sensor issue with the car knowing that the door is open. That shouldn't be a handle microswitch issue (and in fact may be a contributor to the quirky behavior).

right?!? but then the devil on my other shoulder reminds me again that when i use the inner handle all is well and good regardless of how fast i open the door. so that leads me back to the outer handle micro. i can't win. no fault codes either. i would think that a door-open sensor would trigger some kind of code.

hmmm, unless the window micros have a door-open sensor too?? like an all in one type dealie.

and sorry to hijack the thread, otto!
