Default This is a must do . . . Chapter 2

Those of you who know me realize that I have CRS disease, and with that preface here I go.

I sent out an e-mail a few weeks ago to many of you after I had read an article on a very simple upgrade to the fittings that are bolted to the intake side of the cam towers on each side of the motor. This fitting is attached to the banjo fitting connected to the oil line that feeds the cam towers and/or chain tensioners.

In any event, here is the part number: 901 105 361 01. This an old part number (i.e. 901 xxx) but the part has changed, so don't let anyone tell you that you already have them in your engine, because most likely you don't.

This upgrade is applicable to any 911 motor up to the 3.6, since this fitting are standard on the 3.6. I did it tonight and it took 10 min.

Since I don't know how to post pictures on this board yet, I'm going to post this on Pelican as well.

PS: CRS = can't remember shit

Mark to post a picture on here you have to do one of the following:

Pictures can (at this point be uploaded straight into the post either).

However you can:

1) Create and upload the pictures into the gallery and then use them from there

2) Upload them to your website and use a link to there (or any other place on the web, including pelican...)

I) To insert a picture in your post you use the Img button you will find right below the subject line when you create a post.

Rolling over this button will show you the syntax you need to use to post a picture.
Clicking it will insert the beginning tag (BBCode). Before reclicking the Img button to close the tag you type the address of where the picture is. If it is in the gallery you can right click either the thumbnail or the large picture and select properties. Once that modal dialog opens you can copy the actual link (it is the address). You then insert it into your post after the [img] tag. Then click the Img button again and it will create the closing tag...

The tag will (or should look like this)
Code:
[img]http://www.dorkiphus.com/porsche/modules/albumblah/pictureblah.jpg[/img]
Code:
[img] and [/img]
are the opening and closing tags which tell the post to place the picture.

Note:
Using the buttons will create the tag at the end of your post... So if you use them while you are making the post you are fine, but if you finish the post and then try to relocate your cursor to insert these tags with the button they will still be created at the very end of your post and not where your cursor currently is. This can be annoying and is a pitfall I need to fix... Sorry.

Good luck and happy posting!

Geoffrey

Did you ever track down a source for this part?

Dan:

Dulles has them. I will get them for you if you don't want to travel out this way.

Regards,

Marc, along with two of these fittings, how many crush washers do I need to buy? Is the crush washer part # 900 123 005 00? Thanks!

Jim:

Don't know the part number but you will need 6. FWIW, I used the ones that were there. Started her up yesterday afternoon, and no leaks anywhere

Default Update

Had a chance to drive the car on Tuesday and got the temp up to 170. At that temp with fresh 10w-40 the oil pressure was 20lbs while idleing !!

Since the oil presure sender is in line after the crank and before the cam towers, the increase in pressure through the crank and to the piston squirters approaches twice the pressure at idle than before installing the 3.6 fittings.

Marc, that sounds great. I ordered these fittings from Dulles on Tuesday and hopefully will pick them up this weekend.

Default Complete parts list

This sounds like a good upgrade, and I have to replace a tensioner oil line anyway...

Can someone post the entire parts list for a 3.0?

Thanks,

Olivier
