Default How to seperate engine from 915 transmission

Folks

I have the engine and transmission out of my 1980 SC.

I am trying to understand how to get them seperated. I have released the pressure on the release bearing and have rotated the bearing 90 degrees

I am not sure why I did that or what that accomplishes!

Do I need to pull or pry on the fork to get it off the bearing before I seperate the trans. Or can I just start pulling them apart now

Thanks in advance

Steve

Just start pulling them apart,. You might have to remove the clutch lever on the bottom of the transmission (held on by a circlip) - sometimes it hits an oil line and doesn't allow the fork to rotate enough to slip free of the TO bearing.

It is possible to pull them apart w/out doing this... but it takes a V8 F150, telephone pole and a couple of lengths of chain

Not really, just gunned the engine a couple of times w/the chains taught and it came right apart
