If I'm ever going to make the move to the next level (trailer, track car, racing) I'm either going to need a much bigger garage (not happening) or some other way to safely store a trailer with toys on/in it. Any suggestions?
> Should I approach nearby building managers and offer to rent parking space in a back corner somewhere? There are several offices that have excess lot and garage space. > What's a fair monthly charge? (I'm in the Rockville/N.Bethesda area.)

You don't need a bigger garage - just a wider/longer driveway.

I would recommend looking into some of the existing pay-for-storage facilities. I used to keep my trailered boat at one of them, in Germantown off Middlebrook Rd. near Rt 118. I was paying around $150/mo about 6 years ago. But it was a fenced in facility with a "caretaker" living onsite. Security was pretty good. There are a number of them out there.

We're planting small bushes next to our garage, and when they grow a bit we hope to store the trailer there (and to think I used to be the HOA Nazi...). Our neighbors are fine with it--in fact, they're fine with it in the driveway but I'm not. In the meantime, a friend in Mount Airy said I can leave it back in her woods.

Already added a third-car bump-out (way too small for a trailer) and to make the driveway longer, I'd need to move the house!

What about at your shop? I know atspeed has a few trailers outside their shop (they have a lot of room).

While too far for you, I use a Fairfax County boat/RV lot at Pohick Regional Park (about 15 miles from my house and actually a very pleasent drive from my house). Price is good at $140 per quarter. Secured and lighted.
Boat oriented places may be cheaper.....

I can set up some off season storage for trailers in a pool parking lot in McLean VA. Off season only, no fence, not guarded, at your own risk but a good area kind of storage. something like $20 a month or the like.

Is "off season" like September to June? Might be interested in that myself give my sister a break from storing it at her house

Mine won't fit in the garage either so it's next to the house. Keep telling my wife i'll stuff it behind the shed (soybeans don't mind looking at trailers) but I think she's getting wise to the fact that it may not fit with the boat already back there.
Neighbors don't seem to mind. Of course I don't bitch (what kind of asshat would?) about boats in driveways and next to houses in my 'hood either. Nor do I bitch.....much....about people who insist on putting up acres of white plastic (aka fences) around their yards.
