FWIW - Tractor Supply has 15" trailer tires on sale for $99. They are the perfect match for the tires on my trailer, and considering I did not have a spare, I grabbed one. I should probably get a second.
The tires are Load Star K550s, 205/75D15, mounted on 15" steel rims with 5 x 4.5" lug spacing, 1820 lb max load. Question #1 - how the heck do I get these "dust caps" off my hubs? I assume that I need to remove these to apply grease to the hubs. I have tried every size screwdriver in the box, but can't get it to budge. Question #2 - In order to clean and paint the underside of my solid steel trailer deck, I need to get under the trailer. Is there a safe way to raise/tilt the trailer upright, to get easier access to the underside? I have a winch and have thought of some ideas involving a tree and some pulleys, but in my mind, they all seem to end in my untimely death...

Water pump pliers. Wiggle up and down. When you get them off buy some bearing buddies with a grease (hold on guys) nipple.

Those look just like the bearing caps on a 911. Use the same methods to remove these.

A large pair of channel lock pliers (is that the same as water pump pliers??) can usually do the job.
![]() Grip top & bottom and start a 'rockin. Usually you'll get some movement eventually. Once they are removed, you might want to consider getting some Bearing Buddies to use instead of the caps. The BB's have a grease fitting in the center allowing easy maintenance. But they come in different diameters and fit is usually tight, so make sure to measure and get the proper size.

Uhhh....OK. Was looking for some thoughts on other possible methods. This seems to have me thinking...this is not the way to do it.

Right. That setup is for welding, not painting -- that's why it is so substantial. You can get by with a little less if all you are doing is washing, scraping, priming and painting.

If you can't come up with a better way to brace it you prolly shouldn't be trying to paint it yourself anyway!! Might fit between the uprights on a 2 post lift... got one of them?
