After Holiday Party and Yankee Swap
Saturday, January 9, 2010 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm Loews Annapolis Hotel 126 West Street Annapolis, Maryland, MD (410) 263-7777 $35.00 per person 6:00 pm - Cocktails (Cash Bar) and Hors d’oeuvres 7:00 pm - Dinner (Chicken, Beef or Salmon and Vegetarian Available) 7:45 pm – Presentations, followed by The Yankee Swap Preferred room rates ($109/night) are available at Loews Annapolis Hotel only until January 4th. Mark your calendars for the premier event of the season, the After Holiday Party and Yankee Swap. Chesapeake Region has established a reputation for the finest and fiercest Yankee Swap in PCA, one that has been copied by other regions, but never quite duplicated. The social hour and dinner are quite spectacular enough, even in a group that defines itself as a “social club, with a serious car problem”, but the Yankee Swap makes the event. A “Gift Exchange” is merely a mild description of the feeding frenzy that takes hold at this triple steal event. Chesapeake Region, despite being below the Mason Dixon Line, puts the “Yankee” into Yankee Swap…. The good stuff is coveted, horded and only grudging given up under duress. The original emcee team of Alban and Gutjahr, more popularly known as The Bob and Manny Show, will once again host this lively event. Bring a gift-wrapped “car-related” gift, approximately valued at $20-$25, if you want to play. Be sure to bring a nice gift that you yourself would like to take home, because you never know what will happen! All gifts are placed on the table and names are drawn one at a time… each person has the choice of choosing a new gift, or stealing one that has been opened before. Only 3 steals are allowed per round, and then the next person has to choose a new gift - gifts can only be stolen once per round. If you don’t quite follow, never fear, it will all become clear as the swap unfolds… and the fun begins! Registration will be open shortly. See the Chesapeake Region web site for more info. Andrew
