Question MD safety inspection question

I am considering registering my P-car in MD. Will I pass a safety inspection with hairline cracks in my front rotors? None are connecting and none are running to the outer edge.

Look for a dealer/shop that's familiar with track duty. They would know better that small hairline cracks are not unusual. Not sure which MD indies are Inspection Stations. Might be worth a call to Tischer Porsche, in upper Silver Spring. Tom Vahle, the Service Manager, is a racer. He'll tell you if the cracks will be an issue or not.

Should you, no, but after submitting a gazillion cars for state inspections I've learned there's no way to predict what will or will not pass any particular inspector. Most look for glaring faults or quick gravy they can sell on the spot. Take it in somewhere they don't see P cars very often and roll the dice. If they catch it, take it somewhere else and play dumb. If THEY catch it too, maybe the cracks are worse than you thought and karma is putting a shot across your bow.

I once tried to register my 911 in MD. Went to two different inspection places. Both failed me because they said my alignment was out of spec! WTF business do they have looking at my alignment?? Why do they care if my alignment doesn't match the factory spec? I don't get it.

Needless to say, I was NOT going to realign the car to factory specs just to pass inspection and then have to align it again for the track. I registered in VA.

With respect to Md inspection alignments, the only thing checked is the front toe by using scuff plates. It is a wide tolerance range. To fail you have to be beyond the range which means either way too much toe in or toe out. You should have the front reset if it fails maryland.

Go to the BP station on River and Falls Rd. for a MD state inspection. They know Porsches there, ask for Ricky. He's done a couple of my cars.
