Default Any of you guys go 4 wheeling?

I'm headed up to Edinburg/Taskers Gap OHV trails tomorrow at 8 am to ride till around 2 pm. I'll be easy to spot, I'll be the one on the ground with the paramedics giving CPR . My cell is 540-247-3587 and most of the area has service. Great place to trail ride, lots of easy to very difficult trails maintained by the US forest service. There are great mountain trails with 10 mile views and rock areas. Bad back be damned.

Just got back.....Had a great time. That is a real workout, 6 hours of muscleing that thing around the mountain. Funny thing is my back was not an issue at all, in fact it feels a lot better. I didn't get a picture of it but I went into a 20X10 mud hole that was ~3.5 feet deep, sure didn't look that deep. Needless to say I stopped dead in the middle and my machine died.....sucked mud water through the muffler into the piston.....good thing my buddy hadf a winch on his rig, spent the next 30 minutes pulling the plug and drying the thing out. Put the plug back in and started up after cranking for about an minute. Ran another 3 hours with no issues. I didn't get any shots of the tough sections....too busy trying to not crash into bolders and trees.

For years I took my Jeep up there and rode the ATV trails. Damn good fun. But, no off road vehicle in my garage these days.

Tim that looks great. Can you hook me up with some directions. I take it since it is ORV park that they allow Jeeps? My Jeep club would love that. Were there fees or anything associated with it?

Ryan,
I have seen a couple 4X4's up there, but be warned, all of them were either stuck or broke. There are 2 ORV trails listed and I'd recommend a site visit on a 4 wheeler before heading out. It's $5 a day or $30 a year.

Thanks Tim I found the same link you posted after I asked the question. Searching is my friend.

From what I gathered all are welcome but that bikes and four wheelers have the ROW over all others. There is a place similar to that in MD. The difference being that all the trails are one way, so yeah a bike or 4 wheeler might be faster but it will come up behind you and pass, the one you went to sounds like you could end up with a bike or a 4 wheeler in your grill if you aren't careful.

We wheel a lot on Sundays because the trails aren't as busy then. Maybe this place will be the same way.

Good deal Ryan. Sundays get busy there after ~ 10am. We normally go up at 7 am and have the place to ourselves for a couple of hours. There is another place in Gore Va that is for ORV as well. I've seen some pro rock crawling rigs up there too, lots of technical trails and ROCKS/streams. They want $25 last time I went there. I'll try to find you some directions, but it's just out rt 50w before the WV line.

Sweet man I appreciate it. I had my lifted TJ that you saw, but I got rid of it. Now I am wheeling a Jeep Liberty Limited. It's totally stock, but I go where the lifted TJ's go which is awesome. I don't plan on doing any real nasty stuff but at least it is fun...

Went out again this morning and had another great time. Ran into a mountain man out running his dogs after bears. He had a tracker antenna and collars on his dogs and said he had a couple bears treed this morning. Ya had to see this guy, old ratty 4 wheeler, dog box mounted on the back with about 15 chains hanging off him like the old X ammo belts. Trails were fairly clear but dusty. I got hung trying a more difficult trail and had to lift it on out. Pics
