At VIR this weekend, Colleen R. asked if my car had rev-matching. I like to think I have my "heel-toe" reasonably well sorted in the 987, but there are times on track where, in moments of discombobulation, I just crash it in there. My neat little toe-roll wasn't going to help. So it got me thinking..
Anyone have any recommendations/ experiences of devices that can add rev-matching to the 987.1/997.1 models? Many thanks, Alan |

Hire Randy Pobst to drive your car?

If the rev match difficulty is just due to mental overload (new driver, new track etc.) the solution is to keep practicing. You will succeed.

Reminded me of something I saw years ago. https://rennlist.com/forums/parts-ma...downshift.html
https://www.auto-blip.com/ But also practice, and it definitely helps to ensure your pedals are set up well for blipping. Both my cars have pedal modifications to get the brake and gas in better position for heel-toe because stock would have my foot bending in unnatural ways. (964 has a third foot, 996 has rennline pedals). The ones that have a jog out at the bottom of the throttle I find especially nice because I can keep my foot fully on the brake and just press down with my heel without much foot rotation.

Great idea David!
I see a couple of buying options on Amazon for the Randy Pobst. The US version is on back order, but there is one that ships from Shenzhen, although it won't arrive in time for WGI. I could wait, but there is no guarantee the language interface will work in car. As you know, I struggle with the American protocol as it is.. |

It is part of the fun for sure! I love the dance. It's 90% DE use, just driving to and from track. PDK is great on track too. Perhaps I should just focus on those moments of discombobulation!

I have H-T pretty much nailed down, understand the track etc. it's those physical overload moments when you find yourself with too much velocity in a part of the track you don't use often, with traffic around you, etc. I could also upgrade the gear linkage to a Numeric etc. rather than try and find something, anything, in the gearbox to work with. Thanks |

Its been a long time for me, way too long. But once I realized I was slow and no matter how hard I pushed I wasnt going to win the East Coast DE Championship DE became really fun. Little things like overcoming a horrible shifting 915, or brakes that was too front biased and locked up if I was sloppy... long list. Those things became the fun, not an obstacle; the escape from the rat race work week I needed more than I realized.
Get the autoblip thing or the pedal extensions, but drive the wheels off the car. Find the weakness in your game and make it a strength.
