Heat and scrape? that's what I usually hear... (assuming nothing combustible nearby)

Are you talking about the stuff on the inside on the floors or the rubbery stuff on the outside of the tub?
On the inside stuff I found that just a little heat breaks the bond and it comes off in big chips or sheets. The outside stuff, If not a ton. It was best to chuck up one of those hard stripping wheels in a die grinder. The one I have is dark red and looks like a really heavy duty 3m pad, but much stiffer. I used it on the front of the tub where the fenders mate and that area I needed to replace some metal. Worked pretty good because it was just flexible enough so it didn't eat thru the galvanized layer, but took the other stuff off. (The stuff on my car was a whitish/putty color). It's a messy project. Hope you don't have a lot!

Inside and outside are serious, messy, projects with a very minimal weight savings. Heat gun/scraper or wire wheel. Messy.

Sat in the back seats lately? This is a serious ass pain job. I did it when I stripped out my interior and it is the most time consuming task out of the whole process. |

i need to address it for preventative reasons...
.......though i'd be super pissed if i went through all that and then balled it up first day next season (yeah, i've got a twisted mind) |

I think that stuff is good and bad. It keeps the moisture out, but if it gets wet behind it it also holds it in too. Where mine rusted thru the coating looked great on both sides, but there was nothing but muck between the two layers. The PO had a slight fender bender, but when they installed the new fender the probably didn't seal it right.

Chemical strippers work but you'll need to use a ton and will wnt to do it ouside in warm weather. Careful with heat as there are many things, including undercoating, that like to ignite.
