During the winter of 2002-2003 I had my 915 transmission rebuilt. The results were fantastic. I was able to shift into any gear at any time. In fact it was quite easy to shift from third to second just after redlining in third.
Little did I know this was a serious money $hift. It turns out the the previous engine builder used boat anchors and other salvaged parts to build my motor. This minor overrev (~8,000 RPM) caused the valves to float and bend and the left bank cam nut to come loose. Apparently the previous engine builder did not properly torque the cam nut. Well, as it turns out there was another motor in my mechanic's shop that had been there two years awaiting a rebuild. It took him over a year to finish that motor and start on mine. Then mine took another year. Many have said that I may have too much patience Today I got the call that my car is ready. http://www.tagmotorwerks.com/gallery/32911engine

Great news, Robert.
I was one of those who wondered when the red machine would be back on track, but figured you would be tired of people asking. My experience has been that when what should be a short project takes that long, the owner of the project is usually suffereing cruel and unusual punishment at the hands of the shop involved The engine looks gorgeous, and I'm sure it sounds even better. Take it easy on the rod bearings for a good few sessions. Bring the max throttle opening and the max revs limit up slowly.

Thanks for the kind words and the advice. I'm sure the max throttle will not be a problem but the max revs will be difficult.
After the first year, I must admit that I did get tired of people asking about when it would be ready.

Now see, there it is
But the years have pasted and while I remember you saying the car might be too much for you then, it ought to be a good fit now! And your SO gets her own car again Good luck and welcome to the HP wars!

Very sweet!! What cams are you running? Noticed ~7.0mm of lift in those timing pics. Thats going to be a screamer.
