Default Mystery Bracket!

This picture is of the left rear interior side of my 83 CAB. Behind the speaker panel.
The bracket in the photo is pretty heavy with a nut welded inside for something.
Seatbelt retractor bolts on below and twards the front of this bracket.
The only thing I can think of is that maybe at one time during design they were thinking of putting a motor in to operate the top.
Another thought was I think Porsche offered a rollbar as an option or Tquiptment. Maybe this was a mounting point?
Anyone know what it's for?

Here's a picture of the Factory Roll Bar
Could the bracket be a mounting point for this?

Is this bar legal for DE's?
Anyone ever seen one?

This picture may tell the bigger story.
While looking at it I noticed 2 more holes that are currently doing nothing.
Could they be for the front mount for this bar?

Looking at the diagram there are a few bushings that would off set the bar from the mount a little bit. I also found a perforated, but not removed hole in the back of the side panel. I think in front of that bracket.
I'll look tonight at the front 2 holes to see if they are also threaded and if the panel has perforations there as well.
little b it looks like those tabs face in for some reason. It's probably just a bad drawing. I wonder if the rear leg of the bar extends down beyond the wheel arch and rests on the horizontal frame member near the side of the seat? That way the frame member would take the weight and the bracket sorta just holds it in place. The DAS bars sorta do this, but they mount using the rear seat hinge point.

Edit: deleted huge picture!

I think that was for the ROW "parade" option package from Porsche, Part NO 911.611.030.241.71 which allowed the user to quickly and easily display the flags of his or her choice, but only with the roof in the lowered position.

Here are some things I toyed with last night. The two holes near the seat belt bracket are in fact threaded. The are in front of the side panel and I expect that only carpet covers them. If all cars have this I think it might be the right height for a harness bar. (Anyone have a measurement off the floor to a harness bar?)

I stuck some bolts in the holes so they would be easier to see.
The first picture shows the triangle it would make if these bars were in this arrangement. The second is a mockup I made in a few minutes from some PVC pipe. Note the lower connection to the seat belt anchor. (This is made from a piece of pipe sliced open and bent out into the shape. The lower sill has a radius that matches about the outside diameter on this 1-1/2" PVC pipe. This attempt was to see if it would work and to arrive at the angle that the pipe leans back. Pipe cut on miter saw and heated with the torch to bend.

racer:
Thanks I didn't know that option existed. Learn something new every day!
Had to go to MVA on Tuesday to renew my license.
I got the new "Bay" plates for the 911. I was toying with vanity plates, but that would have ment another line. I was there from 3:45 - almost 6pm just doing what I did.

anyone seen "83 ROW" in Maryland?

Are those ADS plate speakers I see??

One of my favorites. Very smooth sounding...but requires a good amount of power.
