Default Boxster Oil Change

I was talking to my stock broker, the conversation turned to Porsches, he has a '05 Boxster. He mentions he is on his 2nd engine, first one victim to catastrophic failure. He also notes he has never changed the oil, due to living in the city and putting few miles on it, long milage intervals rec. by the owners manual, and the fact the dealer wants $500! I tell him, "Dude you need to change the oil, bring it on by". Now I'm thinking I'm not sure I even know how to access his engine, much less find the oil filter. Any of you guys care to clue me in on how difficult this job is?

Its a snap. Drain plug on bottom of case & oil filter just a few inches beside it. It REALLY helps to have the audi/bmw/posche oil filter socket though. My old universal 11-in-one didn't fit it.

Edit: Im 95% sure the filter hex is the same as all other porsche/mahle/mann german oil filters. If you have one the will fit on your 911 filter (I've always just used my hands on that one), you'll be good to go. I bought the porsche socket and later found it fit bmws, etc, too.

The filter hex is the same for porsche/mahle/mann filters.

A stock broker is worried that a dealer wants $500 for an oilchange? Guess the market is worse than I thought. Then again, how many miles are on this engine?

Dose anyone else think that John needs a new broker?

John,

Tell him to buy you a new fuel pump for the '69 and we'll change his oil.
