Default WTB- Cabriolet

Looking for a 911 cab, 88-89 or possibly newer. No white or red please. Looking in Northeast area, preferably tri-state(NY,CT,NJ) but can travel for the right one. Just a shot. Thanks

I'm not sure how far you're willing to travel but...there's a guy in Northern Virginia that is selling a really low milage (<10,000) 2001 silver Cab that has aftermarket (Alpine) NAV. His name is Shadan Ettehad (contact info provided in his eBay listing).

You can check out what was listed on eBay (admitedly a rushed job):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=150027207075

I inspected and test drove and everything was on the up and up.

Good luck!
Dan

Just wondering. You were pretty specific: 88 or 89. These are the end of the "real" 911s. So, if that is your target, why would you look at a 996? Its a completely different animal.

I am looking at the end of the real 911's basically, but if I can't find a nice one with low mileage and a decent price then I feel it's not a much larger step up (pricewise) to the 996's. I have to be somewhat realistic. Spend large for a 20 year old car or spend a little more(maybe not) for a 4-5 year old car. Even a well taken care of 20 year old car is gonna have some maintenance issues, as opposed to the newer models with a less rigorous maintenance schedule.
PS- I appreciate the help offered to go see the car for me, I think thats great and can really help out, so I can sort the trash from the good stuff before road tripping. But this car is not something I am interested at this time. Thanks

I think you're eiter understimating the longevity of the 911 or overestimating it of the 996. But, then again I'm biased. Besides, the 911 is a lot easier to work on and diagnose. Not nearly as fast though.

I don't even have my first p-car yet so I can't say from experience, but I do keep reading a lotta posts about engine rebuilds at or before 100K. Now I'm gonna step on "it" but if you look at quality water cooled vehicles(not American) like my BMW it has over 100k and I expect another 100K out of it, not to mention Toyotas and Hondas, w/o engine rebuilds. Plus 20 year old cars anything can happen, throw a wheel bearing, develop short circuit(worn thru wire, that could be nightmare to find), springs, shocks, ignition switch, door hinge, etc.
I don't know which one is easier to work on. I actually thought the 996 would be easier because of the OBD. We can't know the longevity of 996 yet.
Air cooled cars and bikes for that matter just wear differently than water cooled, tolerances and temps are vastly different, I'm not telling you anything new.
I'm not looking to offend anybody and apologies if I did, I'm willing to buy either car, and I'm sure I will be happy. Thnaks
