Default Major Board Update

Charlie and I have decided to move the board over to a new BBS system. I do not think that the new system is new to many, but myself, however I wanted to forewarn you the dorkiphi:

That on this day the 26 of may (That rhymed). I hereby decree that we shall be moved over to a newer, greater, magnificent, transcendent system.

It is actually just VBulletin. The beta test will begin today and if the new software functions to my expectations I will perform the transfer sometime around the Monday timeframe.

It is highly expected that the new system will be fully tested and ready for main stream before I make the switch. However if there are any unfortunate glitches, please feel free to yell at Charlie as it was his idea. Not really it was mine, but I don't take criticism well on Monday - Wednesday.

I am personally excited as I believe the current version of VBulletin offers some features and integration we don't currently have here.

Any feedback is welcome in this threat as it is Friday.

Thanks,

Geoffrey

Is there an example we can look at to see the new look? Not trying to rush things, just curious.

Extremely kewl. Vbulletin should reduce the amount of admin work for you guys AND provide a better functionality for us guys. Niiice.

That's not to say that the current bulletin has been anything less than an outstanding resource. You guys rock - we owe you!

There is not an example of the VBulletin system available on this site at this point. I haven't actually uploaded the files. That will come later today and I will happily post the link for review. However if you go to

http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/

You can see what the base installation looks and feels like.

Think Pelican BBS, with a Dorki flavor.

I opened the link and was very pleased. It just so happens that the software is the same as is used by our NCA Bimmer brothers-n-sisters at

http://www.nccbmwcca.org/forum/

Thanks guys. This will be a real nice upgrade.
