Default I gotta tranny leak!

SC had been parked for a week in a garage and there was no puddle when I went to get her yesterday. Drove home about 15 miles and let it sit for an hour or two. Went back out and found about a tablespoon of Swepco on the driveway as I was backing out. Came home, put a pan under the car and found another TBSP this morning. Dropped the SC off at ASG this morning for diagnosis, as I don't have much wrenching time left before Mid Ohio. Initial diagnosis is leaky output flange seals. Sounds like this requires removing CV bolts and some contortionist work, but with engine and tranny in place. Before they call me back with an estimate, anyone wanna tell me this is a super easy, quick DIY job (like under 3 hrs) or guess how much it will cost? Thanks.

I have no Idea but If nothing breaks it seems like it shouldn't be all that bad. You'll find out soon.
BTW pm your address. I need to send the check. I hope to get the fan from Pari in the next day or so.

Are you tempted to make the "Just do it, call" ?Are you not DiY Dorki King ? All repairs and mods are DiY.

About 3 hours no odd ball tools needed. Not a rush it kind of job. Ivan only has 3 lifts but you might be able to get some lift time at the Sunday tech after inspections are complete. You need to remove the output flanges to pull and install new seals. Don't think you need to unbolt the outboard side CVs but you might. Be sure to check the flanges where the seals ride to see that they are smooth and not grooved. Add fluid to top off. Don't forget new CV bolts.

I hang my head in Dorki shame and confess that I'll be paying ASG to do this one. I don't have time, as I'm still have to install new seats and do a brake flush before MO, not to mention I'll be at Hershey and Tech this weekend. I also have a mild suspicion of a bad master cylinder, and am keeping 1-2 night next week for that open.

Surely you jest. No, that's where I draw the line, as you have seen.

Only way to redeem yourself is to do a complete trans rebuild including close ratio gears and LS when you get back from MO :P

Dave, I plan to do just that, but would like to hold off until winter. In fact, I may punish myself with a major 993 project to make sure I get the message.

RL

I have one of the seals if you need it, I bought it by mistake when I had my SC trans out.
