Default Pulsing Head Lights

I noticed that the headlights on my 911 are pulsating. It seems to be only a problem when the engine is above an idle. Is it possible the regulator is going tango uniform? It’s relatively new (< 6 months old). Bummer!

Check you battery conectors first then set up a good digital meter to the bat terms and see what the alt is putting out to the bat. Check with little load and with lights and fans on. Voltage should stay in the 14.4 range if I remember corectly. check all the conectors on the back of the alt as well. They can and do come loose and a poor conection will also cause problems

Sounds like the reg but there could be something cyling on and off (AC clutch as an example for some cars) that is overdrawing amps.

Still stuck at my desk...

Well I checked the voltage at the battery. It didn't vary more than 1/10 of a volt, but the lights still pulsed. A 1/10th of a volt is nothing in a lighting circuit. I would have thought that if I could sse the lights pulsing, I'd see a fluctuation of voltage at the battery.

Well, it's back to square one.
Thanks, Rich

OK now you mighty want to check the voltage at the lights to see if the meter reads the same.

Car's been asleep for the winter. Haven't kicked the tires to wake it up yet. Maybe next week. I'll let you know what I find out.
