Back when my old truck was relagated to "third car status", my Toyota mechanic recommended that I drive the truck at least once a week.
It seems like a lot of guys "park" their P-cars for the winter. Does it really help to drive a car on a regular basis?

My opinion is yes. It keeps the oil and fluids moving, any moisture in the tranny or motor will get evaporated provided you drive for a reasonable period and push it a little. Cars are (post'76) galvanised so rust should not be a problem, but can attack the fasteners, so wash off well regularly especially if driving after salt/sand has been put down. It will also keep the seals supple etc.. I keep saying, these cars are built in Germany, they have snow and rain there, they have won the winter Monte Carlo rally. If you want a piece of art to admire, buy a painting/sculpture, not to say these cars are not a piece of art, but they are functional. Go enjoy the thing.

Morning John.
Can't hurt. But especially as 'all winter' is only a couple of months; probably not critical. Do COMPLETELY fill the gas tank. And I like to have fresh oil in while it sits (less corrosive pollutants). If you do change oil use something other than the nnW50 eveyone uses for track. All you want is something with excellent startup lubrication. Keep in mind that your first track event of the year is February 19/20, VIR Full Course. |

Thanks John, I was thinking I should go back to the factory recommended oil weight for winter.
