Default Cam selection for 2.7 motor

I need some advice on which cam to choose. I have 2.7 motor with JE pistons (9.6 compression), 40mm webers and SSI exhaust. I plan to use the car as a street hot rod and DE car. Also, what distributor would go with your cam recommendation.

Thanks,
George

E or S, stock distributor, SSIs or ’74 or earlier exhaust. Get a copy of Bruce Andersons book, it even has dyno charts.

ditto on the cams. The stock dizzy is ok with carbs without the vac retard connected. The 2.7RS dizzy new cost under $300 and has a quicker lower rpm advance that'll be a little bit better for carbs.

So far the E cam and MSD has been very kind to my spark plugs on a street engine.

fwiw, I'd do a compresion test, at least, to confirm the JE pistons and rings are not worn or weak. More power may increase mild blow-by from mild to bad.
