I always see the prefix RENN (i.e. rennsport, rennlist).
What does it mean? Is it based on some German phrase? |

I think "renn" is German for "run," and "rennsport" is German for "racing." Everybody else that incorporates "renn" into the name of something is just leveraging off of rennsport.
But hey, what do I know? I'm just a UK mongrel.

Google says renn = run. But I’ve also seen it used “sport” or “racing”. What do you want it to mittel

RENNEN To race, to go very fast on foot.
Renn nicht so! Don’t go so fast. Don’t run along so fast. Du rennst immer. You alway race along. http://carbon.cudenver.edu/~tphillip...erbs_vocab.pdf To me it means race |

Kurt's right on this one. Renn Hoeke, the asma hound chuaua, after being fired from his acting job on the TV show "Renn and Stimpy", started his own race parts company. This is actually where the name Rennline came from.

Not to get off topic, but since we're on the subject of Porsche-related words and their meaning, and as a newbie on this list, i'm dying to know how the word "dorkiphus" came about.

"BTW Dorkiphus is a play on the old "greek" (Charlie has some heritage here) myth of Sisyphus. Sisyphus was condemned to an eternity of rolling a boulder up a hill. Once the boulder got to the top it rolled back down and he had to start all over again. There is also a star of dorkiphus. My fiancee got the name star registered this valentines day. So following that logic it is possible that there may be a planet of dorkiphi out there somewhere. Perhaps they chant my name on friday nights over guiness. Anything is possible."
