Default Rent a truck?

Sorry for the odd topic. I'm thinking about picking up a car in Charlotte NC. If I move forward I need to get it home, as it doesnt currently have tags. Uhaul trailers are pretty cheap for a day or 2, but the truck is the issue. Local rental places seem to have rangers/s-10's, but now full size trucks. Curious if anyone has experience with this kind of thing. Last thing I want to do is blow the transmission in a ranger on rt85 pulling a car home.

Thanks for any advice

Chris

Most places that rent trucks do not let you tow.

They gave me a full size Chevy from the Enterprise rent a car location at Koons in Tysons (ask DougE the thing was HUGE)! And it did have everything required to tow a car.

Awesome news. So, it had a light hookup and a reciever and/or ball? I doubt it had brakes, but I'll just take it easy

Thanks!

Wow, that's surprising. I've seen these companies go so far as to block off where a hitch could go on their trucks. I think their contracts also forbid towing. If this isn't the case, it's good new.

Chris:

For the amount of money and time cost equilavlent to pick it up yourself you can have it hauled for you by a professional car carrier.

Intercitylines does a very good job of this but, I am sure they are on the high end $ wise.

BTW: I would not want to pull a car without trailer brakes. It is hard enough to stop sometimes with them.

Don't mean to be a downer

My $0.02 worth.
