Denice Chesler is one of my teammates for our cancer-research charity ride (The Ride to Conquer Cancer) is having trouble getting the minimum amount needed to ride ($2500). Her Dad died of cancer, and she works in Suburban Hospital's microbiology lab (Suburban is one of the 4 hospitals doing cancer research sponsored by this ride). I've met my minimum, and actually donated to Denice's ride rather than my own, but it would be great if Denice could get enough to ride, and also for people to fund cancer research. About half of my donations came from Dorkis - you know who you are and I am VERY grateful - so I'm hoping some of the rest of you could see to donating something to this worthy cause.

NOTE: If you see that Denice has passed $2500 please wait a day; there is another rider I may be trying to help support, but I told him he needs to get to $500 himself before I'll help him and he isn't there yet.

Bump. I can't see Denice's donations, but she's gotten $300 in the past 2 days! Hopefully this is thanks to the Dorkis, but she still has almost $1600 to go. One more bump. We have her close to $2000 (she needs $2500 by Friday) much thanks to certain Dorkis who know who they are - a couple particularly generous. Now it's NO DONATION TOO SMALL - please help this gal ride in memory of her father. Think of it as a donation to cancer research, a donation for "good ol' Dr. K" who has already made his number, and a donation for a woman who doesn't have the same kind of friends as we do, and has done a great job raising half of this herself but $2500 is a BIG number.

I won't be asking again, and I won't be asking for this next year. If you could see your way to just give her even $20 it would help a great deal. Please make a donation today so she can ride for a cancer cure!

Thanks again to all the Dorkis who donated to this great cause, both in my name and for Denice (one of you who donated to both of us!). We'll be leaving RFK stadium around 8 AM Saturday, riding north through Silver Spring, Laytonsville, and up into Howard County on Georgia Ave, then across to Mt. Airy. You guys did it! Denice is at $2600, thanks to all of you (and most immediately the Dorki who donated $250 to put her over the top). Dorkis funded half of her donations, which is amazing since none of you know her or are likely to even meet her. this is an amazing community and I'm really proud to be associated with you all. If you want to see which Dorki's donated, go to her page (the link above) and watch the scrolling list of donors (those who wanted to be anonymous will be listed as such, but I believe most anonymous donations there came from Dorkis).
