Default Starter removal/install

Looks like I'll be r&r'g the starter. Marc--it was the starter--whacked it with Robbie turning the key and it cranked. I had cleaned the ground straps and every other connection I could get to, switched out the DME relay, etc.--nothing worked. Richard--starter repair and removal didn't get complicated until 87(G50). My 85 looks like two bolts off and back on. I've order a high-torque replacement. Once I have it in hand I'll post what day/time I'll be doing it in case anybody wants to come by. Probably next weekend. Doesn't sound too complicated, but feel free to tell the wives/girlfriends (hope Lu doesn't read this) that I couldn't do it without you, so we can get together and bs/drink some beer.

Lu will be out of town visiting family, so I have a pass to run amok through mid-afternoon on Sunday. Whoo-hoo!

Well, my kitchen pass isn't all I had hoped for. Lu left me a "must do" whiles she's away and it involves plumbing. Yikes!

New high-torque starter just left Oakland. More to come.

Ran into a major complication. You have to drop the engine about 9-12 inches to get access to the second barrel nut. I'm going to take my time and do that over the next week or so in between work & family commitments. I think as long as I disconnect everything required for engine removal I can just drop the engine using my floor jack, remove and replace the starter, jack the engine back up and reconnect everything. My only concern is how far I can drop the engine with the transmission still connected. Any thoughts/advice? I'm going to post on Pelican too.
