nice chris! i've been lusting after a carrera for a while, but one got snubbed right from under me (cal. 12)
goto heuer, it' the 12th from the top
http://vintageheuer.com/heuerwatchesframeset.htm

then, i tried getting one of the re-issues of the carrera but after trying it on i wasn't taken by it.

right now i am on the fence about picking up an all-black 70's carrera chrono

That is a beautiful piece.

Did you guys see this at the bottom of the auction:

"Please note residents within the EU (European Union), the final auction price will be subject to 17.5% VAT."

17.5%....sweet Jeezus!

This one is probably a better watch, though from an investment standpoint the price is too high:

Yes, but that's in place of paying income tax! No AMT in the EU!

17.5% on 450.00 Pounds Sterling is nothing compared to US$89,500.00! Sweet Jesus indeed!

Ah, but look at that thing. Perpetual moonphase chronograph. And it's all mechanical. It is truly a work of art. I can't even begin to imagine how they do it. They make about 12 a year.

True. Patek Philippe's are some of the most beautiful timepieces in the world (I would like to go to their museum in Geneva at some point). And I do love nice timepieces; however $90K is still $90K.
