Default Power Seat ~ Will Not Operate 993

My 1997 993 C2S driver’s seat will not move forward or backwards. When the button is briefly pushed to move the seat, you can hear the motor hum as if it is stuck or locked up, but the seat will not move. This condition started after I moved the seat all the way forward and all the backwards to vacuum the car.

Any suggestions??

Try giving a little push back as you push the button. Could just be stuck like the windows do sometimes. There should be some info in your owners manual on how to manually move it too.

993 seats usually jam when going backwards. 2 cables go from the center motor to the drives on each side in back of the seat. Remove drive cable usually from the outboard side (more convenient) and you will see a square drive hole. This square drive is less than 1/4 ". Using a Horrible freight 1/4 drive extension grind the male end so that it will fit into the hole of the drive and gently work the drive loose. Move seat forward a little bit using both the switch and cranking the drive. Connect up the cable (providing it is not damaged) and you are done.

Happens in my 964 when my wife wants to drives it. I need to move the seat way forward and I got to giggle the car around to get it started.. Would like to find a real fix, but it normally resolves itself before I get around to it.

The little push back and forward as I pushed the button got it moving again. Nice fix ... no skinned knuckles involved. Thanks for the help.
