I've started to think more seriously about spares/tools after having a weekend of issues at VIR, and then having some weird hesitation/hot idle issues at the NASA Races. So far I have the basics:
*wheels/tires *Brake Pads *Spark Plugs/Wires *Cap,Rotor,Coil *MAF (suspect this was issue with hot idle and hesitation, along with my lean conditions on Dyno so I had mine rebuilt and bought a spare) *extra ABS Sensor *Spare Relay *extra Brake Duct Hose *motor oil *brake fluid *toolbox full of tools I know I can't plan for everything, but what else do you guys bring to a race weekend in preparation for having to make quick trackside fixes? I'm mostly worried about things that will just fail without any warning and will ruin the weekend...since local parts are non-existent. I have considered things like Alternator, fuel pump, TPS, crank angle sensor...I definitely need brake rotors. Probably need to craft an extra splitter to take with me too.

I would add:
* front brake rotors (I have some used Cayenne rotors you can buy cheap -- I'm borrowing them from Dimi so I'm sure I can just pay Dimi for them and you can have them) * Grease gun with grease needle for sneaking into CVs * Assortment of bandaid supplies:
* Replacement axle? Rock Auto sells dirt cheap ones -- like $50 for a complete axle. Not good for high HP I'm sure but for your piddly little power output it'll get you rolling again..... * Heater valve on back of motor (if you still have it -- they're a known weakness on the twin cam motors) * As many spare nuts and bolts you can find. * Spare splitter (if you have one) * Power bleeder with turkey baster * Power drill with drill bits (never know when you'll need to drill something!) * Specialty tools such as:
I think that's basically what I bring.

Where do you keep all that stuff? I have a nice enclosed trailer you can store it all in Seriously though, that's a huge help. I didn't even think of axles, and I've never greased anything on that car yet so that was a good reminder. Car's on jack stands now so I'll make sure I do that. I think those ER suspension bushings I have need greasing too...whoops. Bike intertube is genius....My coil is kind of lose in it's mount and I've been trying to figure out what to use to keep it tighter in there. Some of that stuff I've never heard of so need to do some more research.

Yeah, there should be a course in "951 track car ownership 101" -- it's like 5x the amount of crap you bring for a "normal" track car.

I bring much of what has been mentioned in addition to a spare wheel bearing, which is the same part for all four corners of the Cayman.

Humbleness and the willingness to replace with a new part anything you might borrow from someone else that might have what you need.
