Default WTB: Longhood front fenders and hood.

Hey everyone. I'm trying to make the 1970T look more like it did originally and am looking for front fenders and a hood for a 1969-1973. I'd prefer steel, but would also do fiberglass if folks have some they never got around to installing. Please let me know if anyone has a set sitting in their back shed somewhere.

Thanks!

Those of us that do have such things in good condition tend to hold them tight. All is not lost as they are being reproduced albeit from near pure Unobtainum.

This is a source that is still willing to sell such parts but they are rather proud of their work.

I've seen folks graft metal onto the front edge of late fenders making them look the same (and can than use later galvanized fenders.) Doing the same for the hood and making it look smooth would be FAR harder though so prob worth tracking down a real one or fiberglass replica.

Yes, Very good point. You can get the grafting parts needed to make 74 fenders fit 73 from the above link I think. The pre made parts make the job much easier. IIRC the hoods are not that close as there is a curve formed into the longs that is not there in the shorts in the same place in the hood.

Even at $ 1,600 they seem reasonable. Figure ~40 year old steel original are NLA so any you get will require work. Saw a few months ago that Porsche is making these again. IIRC ~$1200 a pop.

hindsight ... I would have bought new repro fenders for the 911 and welded the flares vs having to pull apart 40 year old fenders to fix rust etc. Cutting up a set of new fenders didnt sit well with me at the time for $1600. All fenders will need some massaging to get the lines right. Adding the buckets to the short hood fenders if they fit right isnt a bad idea. Its really not all the hard vs overhauling a set of early fenders.

Check this out, link was to the 911S forum but the hood looks in reasonable condition and good luck with the fenders, impossible to find good ones. Steve
