We have a fancy tub in the bathroom and never use it. Started to smell--turned out enough water evaporated from the trap that we were smelling the pipe on the other side. Run water through every now and then and it's fixed. Bonus - the cat thinks it's the most interesting thing she's ever seen when we run the water there so we do it every night now.
