I don't know the track, but I know the neighborhood. Dr. K is right - Forbush'es is the best ice cream in the area (much better than that place on the main road near Watkins Glen).
Any restaurant that offers lamb-on-the rod with Syrian bread and yellow pepper sauce is probably a safe bet. It's kind of a local specialty, and it's hard for a kitchen to screw it up.
Ask the local folks who live near the track if The Green Man still wanders around on the roads after dark. Unlikely after all the years since I left town, but if you do happen to run into him, buy him an Arn City.

supposed to be in Scottsdale that weekend (NCPDP). Also supposed to be in Chicago (AGA), Sanderling (vacation), and, of course, PittRace (PCA), but chose to be just a few yards north of Milton, NC!
