If you contact Club Racing and figure out a number that nobody in this region uses, and then let PCA-Potomac (registrar) know, you're likely to be able to keep that number. You might be able to add a "1" before or after your current numbers, which would be the easiest. I checked this with both NASA and PCA before choosing #39.
