Just remove the tapered pin that holds the joint to the strut. It’s about 3 inches above the top of the joint and costs about $12. You need to use a drift to drive it out or cut the threaded end off flush. You don’t even want to “mushroom the end

They can’t be reused but simpler than the joint. Anyway, you would have to just remove the nut on the bottom of the joint not separate the joint. New nut and star washer about $12
