You can pull the fuel sender and clean it up before you replace it...there is a write up for doing that on pelican...the oil sender is not the greatest...they definitely go bad...once you clean it up and if it doesnt work, plan to replace during your next oil change...easy replacement...but as was stated above...best to check the oil every gas up until you get a sense of how much oil you might be burning.
