Newly air cooled
Greetings,
I've been going to de's for two years and have met many of you, although I still can't put names and faces to most of your handles. It's about time I came out. I'm the new proud owner of the ex Doug Nickel 911 SC. My Boxster S will revert to being only a daily driver. My wife and I harber dreams of long top down tours (split to the coast?) although I'll have to soften it up to accomodate my bad back.
By now I'm definitly in the geezer range. I started out back in the sixties with a 59 bugeye. After a valve job and a spun rod bearing I was forced to liquidate just to get my assets back to zero. I was finally able to get a 63 beetle that allowed me to start autocrossing with the Andrews AFB sports car club. When I mustered out of the AF, I hocked everything I could to get a 65 C coupe.
I immediately joined PCAP at the advise of Kenny Wise (58 Speedster) who I knew from Andrews. Back then de's consisted of one day a year at Marlboro. The main club focus was on championship autocrosses and tsd rallies. A hard core did both with alot of post event drinking. During this period I also tried to resurrect a 55 speedster, but the cancer was way beyond my means.
After I sold my 356 so I could buy a bmw 2002 tow car and a formula V, I didn't get back into a Porsche till my Boxster. But I do go on.
I plan to have the SC at the fest. Be gentle, whites, while I learn how to drive it.
