Bill,
I tried to dye my leather door panels just to get the techniques down so that I can dye my 993 leather seats black. After I see the result, I gave up on dyeing and bit the bullet and bought the leather skins from worldupholstery. I know Charlie had great luck with his dye job, mine was just terrible. The leather panels I dyed was originally grey and I redyed it black. I think where I went wrong was partially that I over sanded the leather to a point that I lost some of the characteristic grains on the leather and also partially due to the black color I chose. It was very hard to get a nice even settling from the dye and you can see minor blothches quite readily. Perhaps I did not prep enough?, I don't know. If I had to do it over again, I would pick a lighter color so that the blemishes won't show up as well. I still have a lot of the black dye and prep agent from leatherique that you can give it a try if you like, but dye a scrap piece of leather first before you do it on the seats. I don't mean to scare you Bill. Just let me know if you'll need the "practice prep and dyes?". TBW, if you would like a set of black leather 993 seats, I can cover the 993 seats with the new ,all leather, cover and trade you for the red/lobster 996 seats
