Plasma's are on their way out. Several of the major manufacturers have discontinued their plasma models in favor of LCD. Recent legislation in the EU has basically banned the sale of new plasma tv's, so most of the manufacturers are halting production entirely.
Personally, I'm waiting for the new
Sony XBR8's to come down in price. It's the only tv right now with color LED backlighting. The color and contrast is amazing on those things, better than plasma IMO, but the nearly $5k price tag is a lot more than I'm willing to spend.
