Stephen i used the high dollar version of these when i did my pan and broke quite a few teeth. I think this is not quite the same thing as a drill bit where you're trying to keep a sharp edge. The teeth are likely to break long before you wear them down (regardless of brand) thanks to the odd angles you end up working at to do the pan.
Andy, if you do end up going all the way through when drilling in a few spots (as i did several times) don't fret; just leave that part of the replacement metal un-punched and do your plug weld from the other side.
