Default A little CIS work

Arf has been ill. Not dead sick but lethargic. So, I decided to do a little pre surgery testing and investigation. I might say here that if you are an experienced mechanic or know everything, stop reading here.

Plan was to pull the injectors and do several tests. Flow and spray tests were on the list.

Needed some cups so went to my wife's happy supply and pulled out 6 nice see through plastic cups. Removed the injectors with the help of a tool loaned to me by Matt DeMaria. (Smart man, because he knows he will eventually get some work from things I screw up.) Anyway, any new job needs a learning time. That is why when we get new jobs our managers give us someone not as smart as we to help us find the bathrooms and not do something stupid like dating the bosses girlfriend.

My learning experience started with the cups melting from the gas. I knew better. Of to the Dollar store for 6 jelly glasses. Now the findings and a question or two.

The flow started with each injector pissing first then a nice spray pattern. Is this normal? Pushing up the doohickie in the air sensor started the flow but it did not seem to happen at the exact point. It was very close, but not the same. The spray started just after.

The horizontal flow test was good. The flow test, showing the same amount of fuel over time was good. Then I found the following: the sleeve in the #1 injector port was cracked from the top to bottom. New sleeve is only $2.85 from Pelican

Do you think this could be the cause of a miss around 2200-3000 rpm?

I wanted to post a picture but forgot all Pari showed me on how to do it! [/img]
