Refurbished VW TDI ?

So, as I look for a 3rd car, I can't help but see the reintroduction into society, the 500,000 or so TDI "Dieselgate" cars out there.

Wondering if anyone out here has bought one? Or never turned...

I would presume that since the 2.9l base engines are not DFI, that fuel pump issues don't plague those cars vs the 3.4 "S" model engines that are DFI.

1) While there always seems to be some budget "creep" its sub $20k. Closer to 15K ideally, but that may push a .2 out of reach. I'd consider a late .1 car and given its use, it would be a tip or pdk....
