BTW, did you lube the distributor O-ring with some engine oil first? A little lube goes a long way. Trying to force it in dry can be difficult and unpleasant, a real mood-killer.

There's nothing special about a Porsche alternator, any alternator rebuild shop can do it. Check the Yellow Pages for a shop near you.
